Fusilier Joseph McCaig

Joe.png

Joseph McCaig was 18 years old, and alongside John lived at home with his family in Ayr, Scotland.

To his friends, he was Joe, a very social and outgoing person.  A keen footballer who played for the Regimental Football Team.

Joseph had a fantastic sense of humour.  His personality is fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.

Joseph and Dougald McCaughey became close friends in the Regiment. This strong bond was undoubtedly down to their fun personalities.

Joseph was shot four times by the Provisional Irish Republican Army and was the second to be shot.  He was found with his head resting on the back of his dear friend, Dougald.
